Apache Stronghold could be an excellent golf course, if not for some overwhelming poor conditioning and maintenance problems. The struggle with these issues began with decisions made when the course was in its design and construction phases. Still, national golf magazines have showered the course with honors, seemingly oblivious to the actual condition of the course. Moreover, golfers are making the long trek to the Globe area, where Apache Stronghold is located, to play a course that they have been led to believe is actually one of the top public courses in the U.S. This could be due to the vast marketing this course and casino does where you can easily find a $99 room and round rate even in season.

Profile: This eighteen hole course is located on pristine desert land outside the high-desert beauty of Globe. Adding to the beauty of this course is a spectacular view of the Pineal Mountains, which stand 8,000 feet above sea level. Situated at 3,500 feet above sea level, this course is by no means flat. There is definite slope to the fairways. The greens are large with moderate undulation. Strategically-placed bunkers add to the challenge of this course. An outrageous statue of an Apache warrior proudly stands between hole #9 and hole #10.
