"Bring your A game and your camera" gush nature lovers at this "out of the way, but worth it" resort track amid the ghost towns east of Phoenix that delights the eye with "huge elevation changes" and splendid "high-desert views" of the Superstition Mountains"; even zoologists would admit "it's a challenge keeping your eye on the ball while watching" "roadrunners, bobcats, javelinas" and "more jackrabbits than an Easter special" "frolic in the fairway" but besides the critters, there's "no one on the course".

Profile: Located just outside Phoenix, Gold Canyon Golf Resort boasts two 18-hole championship golf courses: Dinosaur Mountain and The Sidewinder.
This resort added nine new holes to an existing nine to create the Sidewinder Course, which opened in September, 1998. The original nine holes on the Sidewinder Course, which opened in 1997, run along the lower flatlands and wind through a housing development. The course now measures 6,481 yards from the back tees and plays to a par of 71.

The picturesque Dinosaur Mountain Course can be difficult for the beginning to intermediate player. It is a par 70 and measures 6,584 yards from the back tees. Many great views of the Superstition Mountains and surrounding valleys can be seen from every hole. The course is a target-style design. The small greens are fast, and the fairways are narrow.
