The Yavapai Indian Nation "is in process of developing a world-class" facility, and its "new course" is "killer" already, with "interesting varied terrain and elevation changes", an "excellent practice area" and a "nice clubhouse with a wonderful patio for drinking" down cocktails and drinking in "unbelievable views" of namesake Four Peaks Mountain; "the best part is ther's no housing", and the land-loving folks here insist there never will be, making it the "best value in the Valley" for nature seekers.

Profile: Located about 30 minutes north-east of Phoenix, adjacent to the Fort McDowell Casino, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is a desert-style course, inspired by the culture of the Yavapai Indian Nation. We-Ko-Pa Golf COurse is a spectacular 7,225-yard 18-hole golf course nestled within a dramatic, natural desert setting. The course is located within the boundaries of the Fort McDowell.
Open since December 14, 2001, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation’s stunning new golf course. Featuring an authentic tribute to the local Yavapai tribe, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club pays homage to the original dwellers of the land.

Located in Fountain Hills, on the east edge of Scottsdale, WE-Ko-Pa (the Yavapai pronunciation for “Four Peaks Mountain”) presents a unique alternative to the already upscale Scottsdale golf market. Designed by noted golf course architect Scott Miller, the golf course was created to play a challenging 7,225 yards from the back tees, but with multiple tee boxes that are well-spaced to cater to players of all calibers. In addition, there are no-nor will there ever be – residences on the golf course, yielding some of the most dramatic and “natural” views of the surrounding mountain ranges including the Four Peaks, McDowell Mountains, Red Mountains and the Superstitions.

Another distinguishing factor of the golf course is the ample amount of natural mesquite, palo verde, saguaros, shrubbery and desert vegetation that sprawl through the arroyos and canyons of We-Ko-Pa, creating a lush desert feel.
