Though it offers "good", "reasonably priced" "fun" for the weekend golfer, ambitious aces hiss that this sister layout is "too easy from the reds" and thus "not on par with Dinosaur Mountain"; it certainly is "scenic", except for a couple of power lines" bisecting the vista, and though they frown at the holes that "smell of the stables" where the mounts for dudes on holiday are kept, fauna fans fawn over "lots of wildlife" including "rattlesnakes -- that's cool!"

Profile: Located just outside Phoenix, Gold Canyon Golf Resort boasts two 18-hole championship golf courses: Dinosaur Mountain and The Sidewinder.
This resort added nine new holes to an existing nine to create the Sidewinder Course, which opened in September, 1998. The original nine holes on the Sidewinder Course, which opened in 1997, run along the lower flatlands and wind through a housing development. The course now measures 6,481 yards from the back tees and plays to a par of 71.

The picturesque Dinosaur Mountain Course can be difficult for the beginning to intermediate player. It is a par 70 and measures 6,584 yards from the back tees. Many great views of the Superstition Mountains and surrounding valleys can be seen from every hole. The course is a target-style design. The small greens are fast, and the fairways are narrow.
